We're particularly excited about classes exploring sustainability using our Economics, Ecology, Equity/Cultural Significance framework for student learning and research. Each plant can be viewed through these three lenses. We've made an effort in our basic pages to illustrate scientific writing that focuses on them. For an example, see the listing for Douglas Fir. If students are writing for the LibGuide, they are encouraged to consider their work from these 3 perspectives.
Contributions are welcome! These pages can be enhanced over time with contributions from all academic disciplines…nature photography, creative writing, natural medicine, sustainable gardening, music…do you have ideas? The content we've assembled so far is only a starting point!
Faculty wishing to attach new content to the LibGuide can go about this in one of two ways:
1. Contact one of the Tree Campus faculty members on the Project Leaders page and ask about how to interface with the project. Since this is a collaborative project with many moving parts, we encourage all who want to contribute to do this as a first step.
2. Reach out to the SCC library staff and ask for instructions on how to add content to the LibGuide. Once you have credentials, the LibGuide interface itself is very easy to use. No HTML experience is required, and the librarians are happy to help you learn how to use the system.
