The National Novel Writing community in Seattle has its own unique flavor and has developed some of its own traditions over the years. The mascot that Seattle continues to use it the rubber ducky, a symbol that Seattle has often claimed and associated with its rainy day cheer and waterside landmass. Some events that continue to happen every year are the Floating Write In, a delightful boat-based writing experience on the afternoon ferry and the Kickoff Party that has often happened right here at Shoreline Community College.
