Stable Links: Why?

This guide will cover proxy prefixes and the use of building URLs that will work for both on campus and off campus users within the Shoreline Community College information systems. The information here reflects the changes being made to our certificates

Why?

Why Do Our Links Need a Page?

Many of the resources we use on our LibGuides and in our Canvas classes are behind paywalls. The companies that own these resources have a reasonable expectation that we share their intellectual property with users named in our contracts. The solution they have offered is a little bit like a browser cookie. It creates a halfway point between our website and the resource website where the student or instructor must sign in to prove they are who they say they are. This solution is having a page that gives students, faculty, and staff a way to prove they are contractual users. If you used a link after May 2019, you may not need to fix your link. Links to library resources that were found prior to May 2019 may need to be changed.
