IDS 101 - Asia Unmasked: Enlightened Revolutions & Hidden Stories
Instructors: Mayumi Steinmetz &  Neal Vasishth

EASIA 216 + ENGL 102 or ENGL 276. Explores art, philosophy & revolutions of East Asia.  Examines questions such as “How were Confucianism & Buddhism used to enlighten & rule over common people? How did the journeys of China, Korea, Taiwan & Japan interweave and conflict?” Learn through historical documents, fiction, film & local field trips.

Language Course: Japanese I, II, III, IV, V, VI

Learn vocabulary, grammar, sentence structures, and culture. Also Hiragana, katakana, and kanji characters characters.

History/East Asia Courses

History is the study of the past and of change over time. It is also a discipline - a particular way of learning how to interpret factual evidence and shape it into a narrative that tells us why things happened as they did.
