Library Student Employee (Library & Archives Paraprofessional I)

Position Description: Updated Winter 2025 

 

Library & Archives Paraprofessional I performs a wide variety of tasks in the delivery of library or archival services offered by Shoreline Community College. These may range from basic tasks at the entry level to complex work and problem solving at the higher levels. 

 

Job Description:

  • Perform library or archival tasks such as: assisting patrons with writing, reference, or informational questions; circulation; collection maintenance and preservation acquisition; interlibrary lending and document delivery; cataloging; input/update library records or archival databases; creating and providing materials in alternate formats.
  • Provide courteous, effective, and timely customer service.
  • Answer basic informational and directional questions; refer clients to appropriate employees for other services.
  • Search for materials.
  • Perform prepping, scanning, and imaging procedures.
  • Perform circulation functions such as checking materials and other resources in and out and issuing library cards.
  • Receive and processes materials including stamping and labeling.
  • Shelf, shift, and shelf-read items in various collections according to specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED AND one year of clerical or customer service experience. Equivalent education or experience will substitute.
  • Must be a current Shoreline Community College Student pre-enrolled in 6 or more credits Fall quarter 2024.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
