James Conca has been a scientist in the field of the earth and environmental sciences for 33 years, specializing in geologic disposal of nuclear waste, energy-related research, planetary surface processes, radiobiology and shielding for space colonies, subsurface transport and environmental clean-up of heavy metals. He is a Trustee of the Herbert M. Parker Foundation, Adjunct at WSU, an Affiliate Scientist at LANL and consultant on strategic planning for the DOE, EPA/State environmental agencies, and industry including companies that own nuclear, hydro, wind farms, large solar arrays, coal and gas plants. He has also consulted for EPA/State environmental agencies and industry on clean-up of heavy metals from soil and water. For over 25 years he have been a member of Sierra Club, Greenpeace, the NRDC, the Environmental Defense Fund and many other environmental groups, as well as professional societies including the America Nuclear Society, the American Chemical Society, the Geological Society of America and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Reid Tanaka is a Senior Consultant at Areion, LLC, Renton, WA, and a retired U.S. Navy Captain with 30 years of experience on nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. Reid was serving aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON in Japan when the Great Tohoku earthquake and tsunami struck Japan resulting in a major accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. For the next year, he served as the senior technical military advisor on the US response team in the US Embassy in Tokyo. Their mandate was to assess the near and long-term policies in living in a radiological environment in Japan, and the risk to forces and diplomatic personnel of radiological effects from the damaged nuclear power plant.
