Procedure: Assisting Students with Interlibrary Loan Requests
When helping a student place an interlibrary loan (ILL) request, please follow the steps below to ensure proper access and routing:
Do not email staff directly with ILL requests. All requests must be submitted via the Interlibrary Loan form in the Primo interface.
Open a new private browsing window
Use Incognito (Chrome), InPrivate (Edge), or Private Window (Firefox/Safari) before accessing Primo. This ensures the request is made from the student’s account, not the librarian’s.
Have the student log into Primo using their own credentials.
The ILL form must be filled out while the student is logged into their account to ensure accurate tracking and communication.
If the student does not have access to a device or cannot log in to their account:
You may assist by filling out the Interlibrary Loan form on their behalf.
In this case, be sure to include the student’s full name and contact information (e.g., email or phone) in the “Comments” field to ensure proper follow-up by ILL staff.
