If you're trying to access a premium database, you'll have to use the links from the Shoreline website or else it won't recognize your Shoreline information. For example, you can't just Google ProQuest and expect to get access; you must access it through the library's website.
Whether you're using Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, or a different type of browser to access the internet, make sure it's the most recent version of that browser. To update your browser, go to the official website of that browser and choose the download like appropriate to your operating system. An operating system is the software framework of your computer such as Windows (Microsoft) or iOs (Mac). If you're using a mobile device, uninstall the browser app and reinstall it.
Many of our database providers require users to authenticate before getting access to our databases, e-books, and other online content like streaming video. If your link doesn't work, try adding our proxy prefix to the beginning of the link. Our proxy prefix is: https://ezproxy.shoreline.edu/?url=
The prompt for off-campus access has two boxes on the screen to type your username and password. Only use the first section of your Shoreline email address. Your Shoreline email password is the password for off-campus access.
If you have an antivirus installed, it may be blocking your access to the database. To ensure that it's not interferring with your access, disable your antivirus or firewall for a few minutes and try accessing the links again. You may have to add the database URL to the safe list of your antivirus or firewall software.
If you're sure Shoreline doesn't provide access to an article, use our online form to request it through interlibrary loan. This process can take a few weeks, but our library staff can access almost anything for you this way.
