The New York Times Online: How to Create an Account

Alert

If you do not yet have a @go.shoreline.edu email address, the New York Times setup will not validate. Our technical services department is getting new students set up as quickly as possible. If you do not have access, make an appointment with a librarian or use library chat to get articles until you have access.

How to Create an Account

How do I get a free online subscription to New York Times through the library?

Students, faculty, and staff – anybody with a valid Shoreline Community College email address can sign up for a New York Times online subscription. Just follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to our Databases by Subject page.
  2.  Scroll down the Databases by Subject list to the News and History section and click on The New York Times database.
  3. Use your Shoreline Community College email address to create a new NYT account.
TIP: the NYT account is not linked to your college email account. Remember whatever password you use for NYT because it won’t be the same as your email account’s password when you need to change it.
  4. Log into your college email and click on the confirmation link that NYT sent to you after you created your new NYT account.
TIP: You must click on the confirmation link in order to complete the process to set up your new NYT account. If you miss this final step, your account will not be created and you will not be able to access articles on NYTimes.com.
