Earth Day 2020: Daily Actions to Save the Planet

Everyday is Earth Day.

Protecting Our Planet Starts with You!

Each of us has a carbon footprint -- that is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions (driving, heating our homes/water, reading this website, etc. ).  You can calculate your carbon foot print at this site:

https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/carbon-footprint-calculator/

And there are things you can do to lower your carbon foot print and become more environmentally sustainable.  NOAA recommends these ten simple actions that can make a big impact:

  1. Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away.
  2. Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community.
  3. Educate.
  4. Conserve water.
  5. Choose sustainable.
  6. Shop wisely.
  7. Use long-lasting light bulbs.
  8. Plant a tree
  9. Don't send chemicals into our waterways.
  10. Bike More
