In past years Shoreline Community College has celebrated Earth Day with a week long series of activities including: guest speakers, music, poetry, film screenings, habitat restoration, tree planting and many others intended to motivate and bring awareness to environmental issues.
And this year was going to be no different -- the Earth Week 2020 team: Colleen Ferguson, Leah Pearce, Emanuela Agosta, Josefina Andino, Lauren Bryant, Chip Dodd, Jason Francois, Mari Kosin, Tim Payne, Matt Loper, Marek Wyzgowski -- have been working to invite guest speakers and organize a week full of educational activities for the campus community. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent health measures affecting worldwide events, 2020 will be the first time in its 50 year history that Earth Day is not celebrated as a social gathering
The Earth Week team hopes to hold some of the group events we had scheduled such as habitat restoration, and a clean up event with our partners from the Ocean Conservancy when it is again safe to do so. We look forward to your participation and encourage you to treat every day like Earth Day!
