Welcome to my 3D Printing LibGuide! I am an adjunct faculty member and have been teaching at Shoreline since 2007. I have an M Ed. in TESOL from Seattle University and a BS in Forestry (Outdoor Recreation Planning) from UW.

A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso), I've spent fifteen years abroad living and working in Japan, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, and several other African countries. Along the way I've learned and forgotten several languages Fulfuldé, Ollof, Mandinka, and Kiswahili, but I still speak English, French, and Moré fairly well.

I love teaching, ESL, the practical math in the manufacturing program and 3D printing. My interests include bicycling, hiking, volleyball, chess, and photography (especially flowers).

3D Printing and Manufaturing

In Manufacturing 225 you will learn how to design parts specifically for a 3D printer, making sure that you have a tight mesh and making sure that you have left enough tolerance so that parts can move. You will learn to build a 3D printer from a kit, currently the Printrbot Simple Metal.

You will learn to run the seven different models of 3D printers, Makerbot 5th Gen, Makerbot Z18, Afinia H480, FlashForge CreatorPro, FormLabs Form 1+, Printrbot Simple Metal, and Stratasys Dimension. Discover the differences between them, their strengths and weaknesses. Make things that you have designed.
